Emergency vet, Help fund Maggies surgery
Donation protected
Hi my name is Angelica and I'm fundraising for Maggie.
This is Maggies full story...
Back to the beginning:
We made the heartbreaking decision ia few months ago after several months, countless methods (plug-ins, medication, separate living etc) that it was in their best interests to rehome one of the 2 cats that were fighting to the point I was being attacked and one wouldn't even come into the house.
We did what we THOUGHT was best.
We believed we had found a lovely home for her, being vigilant against dog baiters ect. So I kept up the communications with the man yet it was only 1 day after, he had told me he had let her outside but she was fine
This was the moment my heart sank however he kept me informed that she was OK for the next few weeks.
I regretted the decision for every moment after and asked if I could buy her back to which he informed me he had sold her the day before! Even though he broke the agreement that she would come back to us if there was ever an issue and he knew how much she meant to me. He had no details or information to where she was now. (Strange). I registered her microchip as missing from this point in the hopes I could track her thinking that someone would have to take her to the vets sooner or later as she would be due her vaccinations soon...
What happened to Maggie?
On Thursday 21st November I received a message from her microchip company and she was at the vets and to contact them.
So I did!
I was told she had an infection and in a bit of a bad way and so we made the journey there.
Upon arriving a lady from the Preston cats welfare team brought her in and updated us ...
She had been living at the tickled trout hotel carpark for the last week atleast (and we all know what the weather has been like) between the river and motorway.
She was wearing a snap off collar that she had got her leg trapped through and as it hadn't snapped away it has caused a deep wound.
I cannot thank the cat welfare team enough and the 2 ladies Jess and Chloe I believe, for her rescue as we believe a couple more days and she wouldn't have made it, so for that, we forever thank you!
We can only speculate as to what has happened to her but we do believe that she was never really sold on (hence the lack of information) and she was infact dumped or stray from when he let her out. If this is true she has been surviving on her own for the past 2 months.
Maggie now:
Maggie had an initial vet bill of £72
She was booked in the following morning at her registered vets for a general anaesthetic where they have cleaned the wound and has been put on a few medications which has come to around £350.
She will be back in on Friday for a post op checks.
We have a estimated bill of around £1400 for surgery which is not needed immediately so we still have time to raise some funds.
She is only 1yr9mnths so still has a long life ahead of her.
We as a family receive Universal credit even whilst working full time and are struggling to find any vets that can accommodate. the harsh fact sre that we cannot afford a substantial payment upfront like this. I believe there are so many people feeling the pinch more and more now but if you understandably can't donate, then please SHARE Maggies story.
She has touched so many hearts, especially her rescuers and is a surviver.
Thankyou for reading her story. Maggie and Angelica x
Update: maggie has had the wound cleaned and receiving medications. She is looking like she needs surgery as the area of the wound is in a really difficult place. They will take a flap of skin from her shoulder to try to reconstruct her armpit (the best way to explain).
