Building Maeve's Print
Donation protected
Here at Bond we are all about our people, and where possible we always try to offer support in a Holistic way that enables individuals to grow and continue to be the best version of themselves.
We want to extend our support to one of our team, Dan, and his family. Dan's youngest daughter Maeve was born at 28 weeks premature and weighing only 2lbs 10 oz. (this is like holding 4 potatoes) she had to remain in hospital for a further 10 weeks (until term) in an incubator with 24-hour monitoring.
Through the tremendous nursing care and support of loving parents and sister Demelza, Maeve finally arrived home.
Maeve has struggled to reach some of her gross motor skill milestones and recent investigations have delivered the news that Maeve has a Periventricular leukomalacia (PVL), something that is highly associated with Cerebral Palsy.
However, as she is under two, they are waiting for a formal diagnosis, but taking every measure now to give her every chance of full mobility.
This condition it is a neurological disorder, where there is a lack of brain development/ malformation that effects gross motor skills, due to the increased or decreased muscle tension. (link if you want to understand more Cerebral palsy - NHS)
Initial support that Maeve requires:
• Ongoing physiotherapy and daily stretching sessions.
• Weekly hydrotherapy sessions
• The house may need adaptations to support and aid development.
• A customised chair for her to sit on that will open her hip flex.
• Not including the time this will take away from their beautiful 7 year old,
• Attending session which takes time out of work and with the family.
We want to enable the family to help Maeve to build and develop and leave her print
How we want to help at Bond;
Due to the lack of funding in the NHS she is only entitled to 5 free sessions of which she has already had two – to give you an idea private session cost c£30-60 per session, therefore we would like to raise £2500 which be gifted to Dan and his family so that he can continue to support Maeve with the care and equipment needed to give her optimum chance for mobility.
