Maddie's Leukemia Fight: Help Support Her Family
Donation protected
Recently my sister Jen and her husband Justin, longtime residents of Indian Harbour Beach received devastating news about one of their twin daughters.
Right around her ninth birthday, Maddie began complaining of what we all assumed was typical childhood growing pains. Within a few months, her health rapidly declined leading to an emergency hospital stay. After bloodwork and bone marrow biopsy results came back, doctors confirmed the unthinkable.
Madison Torpy was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She is remarkably in good spirits, even though in just five short weeks since the diagnosis she’s been through port surgery, weekly lumbar punctures, bone marrow biopsies, chemotherapy treatments and frequent hospital stays.
Ever since receiving this life-changing news, my sister has been home caring for Maddie around the clock. Jen has understandably taken leave from her full time job as a behavioral analyst leaving many bills impossible to keep up with.
Maddie has just begun this long journey. Her medical team will continue to treat her for the next 2 years and beyond. She’s currently on a strict schedule for treatment with a pediatric hospital an hour drive away and is unable to join her twin sister Savannah in their fourth grade class due to being immunocompromised.
The Torpys are reluctantly asking for help from our family, friends, and Space Coast community. We are hoping to raise funds to help cover their household and medical expenses during this extremely stressful time caring for their daughter.
Any help is greatly appreciated more than you know.
If anyone has any questions please reach out to myself Lisa Vaxmonsky to not overwhelm the family at this time. I am Jen’s sister, Maddie’s aunt, and also a Brevard County resident
