Bring Our 90s Comedy ‘Mad For It!’ to Life

Hi, I’m Bobby — I’m a writer from the North West, and I’ve created a comedy called Mad For It! It’s set in 1995 Manchester and follows a hopeless Britpop band called Dog Basket, who think they’re destined to be the next Oasis… even though they rehearse in a pub cellar, argue in chip shops, and have never played a full gig without setting something on fire.

I’ve written the full pilot episode and I’m now raising funds to film it as a proof-of-concept. The goal is to bring it to life with local Northern talent — actors, musicians, crew — and then pitch it to UK broadcasters and streaming platforms. This isn’t a vanity project — it’s about making real, working-class, Northern stories for screen. Funny ones. Messy ones. Proper ones.
