The last thing you want to hear as a parent is that your child has a medical condition or is sick before they've taken their first breath.  Hearing our sweet baby girl Mackenzie was going to be born with a kidney problem was devasting. It's been an emotional roller coaster for us since before her birth, hoping for the best but continually getting bad news. We've been lucky she hasn't had any major complications and were hoping to avoid removal of the kidney. She's been closely monitored with tests every few months with each test bringing more bad news. Her pediatric Urologist has decided surgery to remove the damaged kidney is the best option to avoid any future problems and complications it will cause if not treated. The cost of frequent doctor visits, trips to the ER, ultrasounds, several imaging test, and antibiotics has been a financial strain for us even with my husband working two jobs.
