MRI & Medical Costs
Hi! I'm Morgan, but you may also know me as Rooney, and I'm a 23-year-old disabled lesbian and creative writing student. I've been dealing with chronic pain from a lumbar herniated disc for nearly eight years (since I was 16), and since then have also developed a pinched nerve in my upper back (T1 (as of September 29th, I now know it is a C6-C7 herniated disc)). These issues affect my ability to walk consistently and to use my left arm without debilitating pain. Though the worsening back issues aren't my only chronic health issues, I've sought imaging to investigate if there is an underlying cause, and or to determine the best possible treatment plan.
An MRI was the first step; it cost $1300. Staying on the public waiting list meant delays of 12 weeks or more, and I simply could not wait that long at risk of these issues getting worse. Going to a private clinic meant getting results sooner and getting closer to a diagnosis or treatment that will help me regain control of my life.
I have set up this fundraiser because I am not able to work, and my family lives paycheck to paycheck as it is. The goal for this fundraiser will cover costs of the MRI, ongoing chiropractor treatments (which manage my pain), medications, supplements I take for my other health issues, and other specialists and consultations I may need. Any other funds continue to support me and my health.
Thank you for your generosity.
