Monterey Park 14U National Tourney

What more can we say about these young ladies? After placing 5th out of 32 teams at the "B" State Championship Tournament, the Monterey Park 14U All Star softball team is now headed to the USA Western National Championship tournament in Roseville, CA! This is a monumental accomplishment for these young ladies and something that they have been working towards for many years.

Keep in mind a few things about this special team:

- Monterey Park is a C District League. We were placed in the more competitive B District tournament.

- This is the first Monterey Park Sports Club team in any age group to qualify for the Western National Championship tournament.

- Our humble league rarely qualifies to send teams in any age group to the State Tournament. The previous MP record for State wins was TWO.  These ladies won 5 State games in 3 days in 110 degree weather.

These young ladies exhibit the true essence of camaraderie and teamwork. Their team chemistry is exhibited not only by them winning, but their unbreakable bond and fun in and out of the dugout.

"Thank you girls for all of your hardwork in this weekend and the weekend prior. I cannot thank you all enough for this amazing journey through the regular season, and then in all stars. I don't deserve this ball any more than any of you, because without each of you, we would not have been able to pull out all of those wins. Each and every one of you is such an important part of this team. To be honest, the team is the BEST team I have ever played on in my life, not just due to the amazing talent and drive on the team, but because of that special chemistry we have."                       - Hailey Yoshida, Pitcher

It has been an honor and joy to be on the coaching staff of this inspirational group of girls!

We now have to raise money to send these girls to Roseville, CA to cover expenses to participate in this national tournament.  This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and our girls deserve it!
