MI Family loses father to cancer
Rob Smith holds his newborn twins the day after their birth. It's the only time they ever spent in their father's arms. "He bravely took pictures smiling despite his pain, because he wanted them to have a good pic," explained his wife of 13 years, Janise (Warren) Smith.
Leukemia took him far too soon; just 12 days after the birth of his 2 youngest children and exactly 7 months after he was first diagnosed. Rob was diagnosed 1 week after the Smiths moved into their new home in Clinton Township, MI back in April. Janise was 8 weeks pregnant with their beautiful twins, Kamden and Kinsey, when they got the news. The doctors had given him 2 weeks to live but Rob fought hard through treatment, even making a "miraculous recovery" after a bout with pneumonia. Ultimately, complications from host vs. graft and another case of pneumonia took everything that Rob had left. He heroically battled the illness throughout Janise's pregnancy and hung on just long enough to hold his long-awaited and cherished babies one singular time.
Janise is now a single-mother to 2 week old twins Kamden and Kinsey, 9 year old Kaden, 11 year old Kiersten, 18 year old Kaley, and 19 year old Kelsey. 23 year old Kylyn has been a tremendous support to her mom and siblings and asks for your prayers and support, too.
Funding will help Janise cover burial expenses for her beloved Rob, as well as support her during her postpartum recovery and help her continue working towards her midwifery degree, so that she can move forward with supporting her family on one income.
Items from the registry for the babies are still needed. If you'd like to gift the family some new baby items, you can order from their registries here. Thank you!
