During the unprecedented ice storm, these Mental Health Facility workers were trapped at work for four days. They slept on mattresses on the floor, were put through intense stress, but never stopped doing their job even when they were at their wits' end.
The particular company they worked for only gave them $100 of hazard pay. One of them had severe stress and mental issues themselves, and all of them had to come home to damage, no lights, and instability, which only exasperated the current pandemic circumstances.
They all have families, children, and lives that they had to worry about and still focused on doing their job and taking care of those unfortunate who sought shelter and care at their facility. They still managed to cook, clean, and provide a safe environment that allowed for the patients to have what they needed from meds to comfort.
With that in mind, their company did not show them the appreciation they deserved with such small compensation. So in order to help them, I'm hosting this go fund me to at the very least provide them each with $500 dollars. It is not a large amount but I understand that they are not the only ones suffering. But I feel that they deserve to be appreciated and celebrated for the stress and hardship that came with the ice storm and I hope to give them at least a small bit of peace in knowing they have extra to put towards a bill or cost of some sort.
If you have also had friends, family, etc who have worked or have used Mental Health care facilities, then this is a chance to help and give back to them in some form.
Anything donated is wonderful. Those who can't, please spread the word and let them know that they are loved and cared for in at least some way for their fortitude and care.
