Our 11th graders, who I started teaching their freshmen year, are preparing to embark on their next journey..College! As juniors, we offer our students an opportunity to visit multiple colleges on a three-day overnight trip. This is the first time that many of our students get to visit colleges, especially in Upstate New York. However, this opportunity comes at a cost due to travel, hotel fees and activities for the multi-night trip.
With upwards of 5 or 6 college visits and tours, two nights in hotels, all meals accounted for and activities in between, $2500 seems to make a dent for our students and their families. Our trip will be happening in mid- April so the goal is to try and raise as much as possible by April 16th. Although it is quickly approaching, we have been fundraising through our school, but have realized how much farther we need to go. All I want from what I do is to see my students succeed; not just by going to college, but by continuing to make an impact. With the help of our communities of friends, families and supporters, I hope that we can get there.
If you or anyone you know would like to be a part in helping our students succeed, please donate anything you can. No amount is too small and the support is infinitely appreciated. If you can't donate yourself then please spread the word to those who will! For as lucky as I am to have my students and my school, I am just as lucky to have people from around the world that support my work and our community. Thank you!!!!
