Monday, February 8, 2016 started for Artur Magda like every other day. He woke up, got ready for work, and kissed his wife Ula and son Pavel goodbye before heading out the door. He was commuting to Michigan Glass Coatings in Auburn Hills where he has worked as a window film installer for the past 15 years. The day progressed rather uneventfully, and before leaving work Artur joked with the front office staff to make sure the Pąckzi’s coming for the following morning were authentic and from Hamtramck. Sadly, the evening did not end as routinely as it had started.
After a trip to pick up his son from school and a visit to Target, he returned home to make dinner for Pavel, his son. Suffering from symptoms of what he thought was a severe headache (and one that never told anyone of any pain he was under), Art finished cleaning the dishes and laid on the couch downstairs. Keeping his pain a secret, he hoped the pressure in his head would subside. His wife sensing something wasn’t right, went downstairs and found Artur convulsing and immediately called 9-1-1. He was transported to the hospital within minutes of the call to dispatch.
In order to relieve the pressure and find out the cause of the unknown sudden trauma, the team of medical professionals ran a myriad of tests. Locating three blood clots in his brain, the decision was made to undergo cranial lifesaving surgery. One of the three clots was larger than expected, and the team of doctors felt that only treating the largest and most problematic clot was the limit of trauma his body could handle. The other two would be later addressed with medicine. Due to the severity of the surgery and the recovery of the body needed, a medical coma was induced.
After several positive signs of improvement, and a multitude of reports, tests, and exams, the medical staff decided to try and begin the process of bringing Artur out of his coma. Several times he has responded by opening his eyes, moving an arm, or allowing his acknowledgement be known. But there is no timetable … no known date of recovery … no prognosis other than we wait. We wait and pray. We wait and comfort. We wait and console.
The outpouring of support has been overwhelming. For such a humble, quiet, and God-centered family man, Artur’s impact was widespread. The community support is a testament to the many he influenced through a kind word, a thoughtful action, or a good deed. Now we call upon our friends and family to support Artur and his family in their greatest time of need.
As an industry, as a brotherhood, and as a family, we ask that you consider giving to support Artur and his wife and son. While the outcome is still unknown, your donation will be used to offset the many medical bills and unforeseen expenses this tragic event has placed upon the Magda family. This will allow Artur’s father to come from Poland to be by his bedside, Artur’s wife to not have to worry about the mortgage on their home, and Artur’s son to have activities and events to attend during the many hours the rest of the family is at the hospital. Dojechał do Michigan Glass Coatings w Auburn Hills, gdzie pracował jako instalator folii okiennych przez ostatnie 15 lat. Dzień jak każdy inny, nawet przed wyjściem z pracy Artur żartował z panią w recepcji czy pączki na następny ranek (tłusty wtorek) będą autentyczne, z Hamtramck. Niestety, wieczór nie skończył się tak rutynowo.
Artur odebrał syna ze szkoły i razem wrócili do domu na obiad. Już wtedy miał poważny ból głowy. Artur umył naczynia i położył się na kanapie, mając nadzieję, że bolesne uczucie ciśnienia w głowie ustąpi. Żona Ula, wyczuła że coś nie było w porządku. Zeszła na dół i zastała Artura w konwulsjach; natychmiast wezwała 911.
W szpitalu od razu wiele testów, które wykazały trzy skrzepy krwi w mózgu. Decyzja – operacja. Największy i najbardziej problematyczny skrzep zoperowano natychmiast. Pozostałe dwa lekarze zdecydowali leczyć później, a Artura wprowadzili w stan śpiączki medycznej żeby jego organizm mógł odpocząć po traumie tak poważnej operacji.
Po kilku pozytywnych oznakach poprawy, pozytywnych wynikach testów i egzaminów, personel medyczny postanowił spróbować wybudzić Artura ze śpiączki. Kilka razy odpowiedział otwierając oczy, przesuwając rękę, robiąc kontakt z otoczeniem. Ale narazie nic nie jest wiadome, więc czekamy, modlimy się i nawzajem wspieramy...
Toteż prosimy naszych przyjaciół i rodziny, aby wsparli Artura i jego rodzinę w ich największej potrzebie. Prognoza Artura narazie jest nieznana, a rachunki medyczne i nieprzewidziane wydatki się piętnują z dnia na dzień.
