MEDICAL OXYGEN GENERATION AND STORAGE UNIT
AT A COST OF RS. 27 LACS
Joint Project of SOLAR VILLAGE FOUNDATION, Kandramanickam, NRI friends of USA and Santhosh Charitable welfare Trust
India stands amidst the storm of the second potent wave of Covid-19 cases hitting us across the country. With national cases averaging over three hundred thousand (over 3 lakhs), and about 3000 deaths a day - India’s health system is on the verge of a complete collapse.
The number of Covid cases and deaths are increasing in the district. Countless lives are being lost over the lack of oxygen, the demand for which is ever increasing. Oxygen concentrators ( a medical device that concentrates oxygen from ambient air) are critical to treating patients suffering from mild to moderate effects of Covid-19. Early administration of oxygen significantly improves the condition of the patient leading to faster recovery and thereby, reducing the need for hospitalization.
During my telephone call last week, Mr. P. Madhusudhan Reddy, I.A.S., Collector of Sivaganga District made a request to arrange for the donation from NRIs through our Solar Village Foundation for supply of medical equipment such as Oxygen Generation Units to the 5 hospitals at Karaikudi, Devakottai, Tirupattur, Amarathipudur and Sivaganga. He also reiterated that any amount of donation will help the covid patients to recover faster.
Our first project will be to install MEDICAL OXYGEN GENERATION AND STORAGE UNIT at Karaikudi Govt. Hospital at a cost of Rs. 27 lacs as the town is experiencing abnormal covid cases. Any funds collected in excess will be used for other hospitals in the district based on the need.
We request to contribute whatever amounts from $10 to any amount as everything counts (“Siruthuli peruvellam”). The drive will end on 6/5/21. If anyone wants to contribute more than $1000, please contact me at nnachiappan at Hotmail.com.
If anyone wants to use their funds to be used to buy any equipment for a particular hospital in any other district, please send me a message and we will try to accommodate and deliver accordingly. We will send full details of equipment purchased and delivered to the hospitals.
In order to steer this fund drive, I sought the help of Dr. V. Venkatachalam (Karaikudi), NJ and Mr. KM KR SM AR Thiyagarajan Palaniappan, (Devakottai), CA and Mr. Laks Meyyappan, NJ and Mrs. Gunasundari, Boston, MA who readily agreed to help us.
