Melissa Dunn is a wife, a mom, and a middle school math teacher who suffers from chronic severe migraines. Her migraines have continued to get worse over the past few years, affecting her vision, her speech, and her balance. She is currently taking a year's medical leave from teaching to try different treatments in an effort to improve her medical condition.
Melissa's doctors have recommended that she get a service dog, which can help her with balance issues as she walks and can help her navigate stairs, crowds, hallways, public spaces, etc.
We have been working with a breeder who specializes in breeding dogs that are large, calm, non-shedding, non-drooling, and able to be trained for service work. We were just informed that a litter of puppies was born a few days ago, and we will be able to get one of the puppies. We have until early November to raise the funds for the puppy ($1,800). We will also need funds for travel (the breeder is not in Michigan, so we will have to travel twice to southern Indiana, where the breeder is located), funds for the puppy's veterinarian care and spaying, and funds for the service dog training program.
We appreciate any amount you can give to help provide Melissa with this dog. It will be a tremendous help and encouragement to her for many years.
Thank you.
Nathan Dunn
