From Pain to Purpose

Donation protected
Michael first started this part of his testimony back in February.  With excruciating hip and joint pain and a small lump on his neck it was finally time to get into the doctor.  (If you ask any dairy farmer this is a task within itself) The first emergency room he stepped into for testing was going to be far from his last. Michael was diagnosed with testicular cancer. It wasn't until 4 months later, 4 different emergency rooms, 2 treatment centers and  8 different doctors that he finally got a course of treatment and a doctor that fit.  The first step was surgery to remove the live cancer cells then he would undergo up to 4 rounds of chemo. Each round is 3 weeks long; the first week is 5 days of treatment followed by week 2 and 3 with 1 day of treatment. Throughout this process, there has been frustration, fear, pain, and tears. Romans 8:28 says , “And we all know that all things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose” This becomes very clear when looking at Michael throughout this journey. God has turned cancer and chemotherapy into peace, hope, faith and a new marriage.

"I knew very early in this that I needed God and Jesus to be a part of this journey. I knew I couldn't do it on my own and how He has met me in this has been undeniable. From fear to hope, worry to peace, and living by myself to a marriage, He has given me everything I didn't know I needed. All this to say, God was relentlessly pursuing my heart in this. He wanted me to love Him more than I hated the cancer. That felt impossible to accomplish because what you're going through is so physically and mentally demanding and exhausting. But the faithful, loving nature of our Father made that easier as time went on, showing up in ways I never expected. Doctors have prayed for me during appointments, getting married before chemo started during quarantine, and so many more things I never could have scripted myself. All it took was faith, not faith of a certain size or quality, just whatever faith I could gather up in that moment to be expectant on God to show up. If we all understood how much God loves us, and desires a relationship with us, and how much he longs for us, it would be much easier to put our faith in Him. The cherry on top for me was when I started understanding that the presence of pain and struggling, like what I am going through right now, is not how to measure the love of the Father or His judgement on your life. The power of testimonies like this show how He loves us so much. He is willing to go to lengths we don't understand to sustain us through the pain and suffering, showing up every step of the way; that peace beyond all understanding hits you. You find yourself praising through the storm and not focusing on how strong the storm is, but finding faith and hope in the fact you serve the one who can calm the storm. That's exactly why I want all donations to go to a ministry that will help extend the sustaining and loving nature of God to others. Please give, and give expectant that this donation will be doing exactly that, giving someone out there a peace from our amazing creator that surpasses all understanding."                         -Michael Hendren

Michael has teamed up with His Cavvy Foundation, a Christian ministry that is designed to provide financial assistance to farming and ranching families across the country who are struggling with medical bills. All donations will be given to this minstry to further their cause, helping families in crisis and blessing them with financial support. A link to their website can be found on this page.  When donations are received we would like to send you a "Mike Strong" silicone bracelet for showing your support and to help raise awareness for testicular cancer. Please send an email with your address to [email redacted]  with the number of bracelets you would like to have for you and your family. After the bracelets are received  take a fun picture of everyone wearing their bracelets and send to the email address above so we can always remember the love and support that was shown during this time. Thank you and GOD BLESS!

1 Peter 4: 12-19 Dear Friends, do not be surprised at the painful trail you are suffering as though something strange is happening to you. But Rejoice that you can participate in the sufferings of Christ so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God, and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the  gospel of God? And, "If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?" So then those suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.
