As many of you may already know, Brian received a devastating ALS diagnosis in June 2024. ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects the motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. These neurons control voluntary movements, such as walking, talking, and breathing.
While Brian is under the care of the world’s best medical team at Mass General Hospital and hopeful treatments are on the horizon, one of the cruel aspects of ALS is the gradual loss of independence and inability to carry out the most basic tasks of daily living as the disease progresses.
As those of you who know Brian will attest, he is one of the most positive and charismatic people you will ever meet. His optimism, hope, sense of humor and infectious laugh have remained fully intact despite his diagnosis and daily challenges. It is my mission to keep him hopeful, laughing and to help him continue to live life to the fullest.
So many of Brian’s family members and friends have shown up for him in a million and one ways. Brian’s superpower is his ability to make friends easily and to nurture his friendships made along the way, many dating back to his elementary school days. The outpouring of love and support he has received leaves us in awe.
Even still, many others have reached out asking how they can help. Unfortunately, this disease will eventually force Brian to leave a successful career that he has built over 30 years, so he can focus on his treatment and spend quality time with his three children, extended family and friends. He has and will continue to incur many medical expenses as he undergoes treatments and participates in promising trials.
Additionally, Brian is incurring mounting costs associated with adaptive equipment, accessible transportation, structural modifications to his house and countless other challenges to his daily living.
By launching a GoFundMe page on Brian’s behalf, it is my hope that in doing so any funds raised will ease some of his financial burden as he forges ahead with grit, faith, strength and hope. ALS hasn’t met the likes of BRIAN LYNCH!!
Thank you in advance for your support and please keep Brian in your thoughts and prayers. Please feel free to share this post.
With much love and gratitude. #Lynchystrong
