Luna has cancer and needs radiation

Luna is our pink and white Sphynx Cat. Luna has always been fearless, talkative, and basically owns us and the world. Luna is my partner's "child". I bought her for him when I chose to have no more children after I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. He's a cat person through and through.  Secretly I am jealous of the bond between them, she is never far from him whenever he is home.  He loves her so much, and she loves him.

Luna has been diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Luna's form is rare in that rather than a single lesion that has gone through the skin and affected a major organ, hers has spread lesions all over her skin. That's the good news.

The bad news is that treating this form will mean she will require whole body radiation as opposed to spot radiation. She will be radiated all over the top of her body to the depth of a couple of millimetres.  This will be tricky. This has also never been attempted before and her case and treatment will be written up as a veterinary medical science paper to help other vets who encouter similar cases.  Luna's treatment will help thousands of other kitties in the future with more choices with what to do with this kind of cancer - so any donation will go way beyond just helping Luna.

The other bad news is that the cost is astronomical. All up the treatment will be close to twenty thousand dollars. We are attempting to refinance our house (harder now that I don't work because of my MS) to cover what costs we can.

To start treatment as soon as possible we must come up with an upfront payment of $9000. We need help doing that and we are reaching out to you. Any animal lover out there that would do anything to help their pet live a longer happier life to please give what you can for Luna, and other cats in the future who will get Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

Squamous cell carcinoma usually happens on the face or in the mouth, Luna is lucky that her cute little face is not effected (yet).

I cannot put into words how grateful we will be to anyone who can help contribute.  You are the best of people.  I promise to keep everyone up to date with Luna's progress, and her recovery after treatment.
