Luminescence Chamber Singers Tour
Donation protected
In September 2016 Luminescence Chamber Singers are embarking on our largest undertaking yet. Luminescence Chamber Singers are a Canberra-based vocal octet, and our 'Descent Into Madness' concert season marks our first tour.
For this project, we are delighted to be joined by guest conductor Gordon Hamilton, artistic director of The Australian Voices. Descent into Madness explores works by Gesualdo, Elliot Gyger, Rob Davidson, and the premiere of a commissioned work by Alice Chance. Each piece relates to the concept of ‘madness’ in a very different way. From Gesualdo’s crazy chromaticism and troubled personal past, to the cry of an unborn child lamenting the insanity of modern life in Gyger’s I Am Not Yet Born; from Davidson’s uplifting setting of Leunig’s liberating poem, Let It All Unravel to Sieber's silly Nonsense Songs, Descent into Madness juxtaposes chaos and clarity, the scary and the silly.
We are very excited to share this thrilling program with audiences across NSW and the ACT, and to have the opportunity to deliver a number of education workshops for schools and community choirs during our tour. As well as teaching new repertoire, Luminescence workshops equip local ensembles with new vocal and choral skills, enable an engagement in collaborative composition and offer a behind the scenes insight into how our rehearsal and preparation process.
To make touring possible, Luminescence relies on the generous support of our patrons and people around Australia who are passionate about excellence in ensemble singing and the creation and performance of new and innovative music. Donations towards our tour fund help to cover our travel, accommodation and administration expenses. Contributions of all sizes are deeply appreciated; your donation can go a long way in helping the Luminescence Chamber Singers share our songs and stories. In appreciation of your generous support, those who donate $100 or more will be listed as 'bronze donors' in our program. Those who donate $200 or more will be listed as 'silver donors' and will receive one complimentary ticket to our Descent Into Madness concert in a tour city of their choice. Donors who contribute $300 or more will be listed as 'gold donors', and will receive two complimentary tickets to our Descent Into Madness concert, in a tour city of their choice.
