Lucy's Health Battle: Your Support is Needed
Donation protected
1/3/2024 update:
On December 23rd Lucy was diagnosed with Cranial Mediastinal Lymphoma. Normally 90% are T-cell lymphoma; T= terrible, but due to only having one swollen lymph node besides her mass we most likely caught it in the early stages!
After two rounds of chemo her coughing has decreased, and the size of her mass has as well. We are hopeful and crossing our fingers we are on an upward trajectory. Please keep spreading this page around and keep Lucy in your thoughts. We have $200 left from donations to put towards her next treatment, but after that we are on our own. Please help us continue treatment for Lucy. <3
I'm turning to you all because my girl Lucy is facing some serious health challenges, and we need your help.
Lucy has been struggling with a mass in her chest, an enlarged lymph node that is pushing on her trachea, and mild enlargement of the pulmonary arteries. Over the past few weeks, she has lost her bark, struggles to breathe with a high respiratory rate, and experiences fits of gagging. These symptoms are hard to watch, but despite it all, Lucy is still in good spirits. She’s excited to see us come home, still loves going on walks, and was overjoyed to play in the recent snowfall. However, when she gets too worked up, her symptoms flare up, and we are reminded something is wrong with our baby.
We’ve already spent over $2,000 on x-rays, ultrasounds, and blood tests. We still don't have a solid solution for her problems. Lucy has an upcoming appointment at the University of Illinois on December 23rd for a biopsy and CT scan, which is estimated to cost around $2,000. With the recent financial strain of going back to school, we are overwhelmed and struggling to cover these expenses. I’ve even considered taking this semester off to work full-time just to keep up with the costs of her care.
From cuddling up with me at my lowest lows to being the best copilot on countless road trips, Lucy has always been there for me and has been the reason for much laughter and so much joy in my family.
I am aware of CareCredit as an option, and the burden of another monthly payment is heavy as we struggle to stay afloat. She is already a senior dog and the pet insurance quotes we are getting are very steep and normally don't kick in for a few months after purchasing.
Times are tough for everyone right now, and with the holidays approaching, I know this is a huge ask. If you can, please consider donating to help with Lucy’s medical expenses. Please consider sharing if you are not in a spot to donate. I am so appreciative you took the time to read this.
Lucy is so loved; I will do everything I can for her to make it to 10 years old. Please consider assisting in any way you can.
