Help Treat Schizoaffective Disorder

Isn't it interesting the turns our lives sometimes take? 6-years ago when Alexa graduated form high school, she seemed bound and determined to complete college and become a secondary education theatre teacher.  Call it choice, call it a disease, call it fate, call it whatever you will. I, myself, am still not sure what to call it, but I do know that Alexa's life is difficult right now and she needs your help.

Through no choice of her own, Alexa was born with a heavy dose of mental illness genes from her mother's side. While indicators of depression, anxiety and A.D.D. became visible throughout her life, a serious condition was diagnosed  3-years ago:

Schitzoaffective Disorder.

You can read about it here:

Alexa hears faceless voices in her mind telling her what to think and how to act.  In order to block out the voices, she turned to drugs and alcohol to self-medicate.

Since December 25th (yes, Merry Christmas!), Alexa has been a patient at a mental health facility  receiving treatment. She has come a long way in her thinking skills, her attitude and determination to get help.  She is on a combination of medicines which she says have stopped the voices and gives her relief.  We have much hope and faith that this chapter in Alexa's life will end soon, and that she can move ahead with a happy, making a positive difference in other people's lives and live with a clear mind for many years.

But right now, Alexa is in need of further treatment and needs help financially in order to receiv it.

Her father and stepmother  were able to come up with payment for the first 30 days of treatment ($12,500). Those 30 days are over today, January 25.  She definitely needs continued help not only to pay for more treatment,  but needs medication and aftercare sober living transitional housing.

As many of you are parents and grandparents, you will likely be empathetic in the way I, as her mother, feel. We will all be eternally thankful to you for helping to save her life.

Please consider donating even a small amount of funds so we can keep her heading in the right direction. She has so much to offer the world, and has recently spoken of one day becoming a mother. She loves dearly and genuinely cares about each and every person she comes in contact with. Won't you please reach into your heart and donate to this cause?  Even small amounts can add up to the treatment program and sober living home fees.

Much Thanks,
Lana
