- So I'm sure by now Samuels legs started healing and I haven't been able to keep him from walking on it and it looks like he can't move his leg instead he's throwing it in front of him and pivoting off it which I know is hurting him. The vet said their going to have to rebreak his leg then plate it back together, I've managed to raise another $450 so now we're only about $550, that's hoping they will rebreak it included in the previous estimate, Well cross that bridge when it comes.
- So these are Samuels X-rays. They show that his front right leg has a break in the upper part of the bone near his shoulder. The veterinarian said he most likely has his weight planted on that leg at the point of impact. He also had damage and bruising to his lungs causing small lesions where air was escaping into his chest cavity pushing his heart up and forward. They said this would heal on its own but would be uncomfortable for him during the process. Thank you to everybody who's donated and shown love and support for my pup. Time is definetly a factor here so I'd like to ask everybody to share this posting and know that your donations are going to a noble cause and will impact our lives forever. You are appreciated.
- Trying to think on my feet here, I'm 100% against amputation, especially for GSDs unless every other option is exhausted. It looks like the most affordable way to get him the specialized surgery he needs is to drive down to Mexico and have them do the surgery there. Mexico has. Some of the worlds best doctors and veterinarians in the world it's just a more affordable option to those that may be down on their luck. So we're looking at a new goal of 3500 with 1047 already met. Help us save Sammy's leg by donating today! All money collected on Samuels behalf will go toward gas to get him to Mexico and the surgery. They will be keeping him overnight at the animal hospital, I'll be sleeping either in the lobby or in the car with Sam's brother Tiny, then when he gets released from the vets we'll be coming back. Apparently this is fairly common practice for the vets, having Americans bring their pets across the border for medical care and they said they will give us medical papers for Sammy and that's all we should need to get back in to the U.S. plus if that feels sketchy they offer a pet express pickup to and from the vets for $18 I believe. So this looks like the plan as of now. Sammy's in pain and if it means he will heal and keep his leg and be done with the pain, I don't mind the nine hour drive. If I had the money this would have been taken care of immediately unfortunately due to a series of events Im unable to afford it myself. That's why I'm panhandling on the internet for donations for Sam. A little embarrassing but for a righteous cause so that's just the price I pay.
Hello, I'm fundraising to get my 7 month old German shepherd pup the surgery he needs to save his front leg.
It's important to me because these guys are family now, my 7 month old is hurt.
All the proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly toward his surgery and pain medications for him.
We are still just under 3,900 dollars away from meeting our goal.
I would like to ask for your help getting this poor little guy back on his feet, He's just a baby. He doesn't deserve suffering thru all this pain. Getting hit by a car at just 7 months old, that's crazy.
If you come across this and could help us I'm not looking for any huge donations just maybe $10 to $20 dollars or whatever you can afford would be enormous. Even sharing fundraiser on your social media would be a tremendous help to help Sammy. Time is running thin and we need all the help we can get at this point,
Thank you all.
We also want to say Thank you to all those who have already supported Samuel on his road to recovery, you are appreciated. It means the world to us.

Meet Samuel, an amazing German shepherd puppy that would melt anybodys heart. I rescued Sammy when he was just 3 months old, I had answered an add on Facebook about someone needing an unexpected liter of German Shepherds gone asap. I drove around 3 hours to go pick him up and when I got there and saw Samuel and his brothers I knew I had to take them out of that situation. I asked the person how many were available. They said someone was coming to take 2 of them and there was three left including Samuel, I said I'll take three and I loaded them up in the car and pulled off. Samuel was a bit bigger then his brothers but not by much, all three of them were literally starving to death and practically skin and bones. I noticed Samuel had a big chunk of his ear missing and was curious about it so I messaged the person I got him from and asked what had happened, I also wanted some info on there shots, because from the moment they got in the car they had diarrhea and were pooping and vomiting everywhere, and all three of them huddled together under the back of the driver seat in the car nearly the entire ride home. The owner told me that Sammy's mom had bit Samuels ear off when he went in her food bowl and that none of the dogs had their shots yet. I started worrying that these poor guys had parvo or something. Along the way I made a few put stops to clean up the poop and vomit and try to get these guys fed and hydrated, we eventually made it back home and I managed luring these guys out of the car by sitting there talking to them for around a half hour or so and some puppy treats. These pups weren't acting how you would expect your typical pups to act, playfull, energetic, happy or anything. These guys seemed terrified. I got them inside and into a warm bath to clean them up. I didn't want to freak them out so I put some food and water out and sat back and gave them their space. I figured it might take them a little while to adjust to their new environment and such. They started warming up to me the next day altho the three seemed to all have some sort of separation anxiety going on or something. My goal at this point was to gain their trust in me so, yes it was super cuddle time. After a few days they were jumping all over me and showering me with kisses every chance they got... After about a week their stools started becoming normal which was a huge relief. They picked up weight quick and almost seem to pack on the pounds daily. As much as I fell in love with all three of them I knew it was to much to handle by myself so I gave crash to one of my friends because he seemed like he needed a bit more one on one attention then the other two so it seemed like the best thing to do. Fast forward 4 months and these guys are with me everywhere I go until about 4 or 5 days ago when I had to run an errand and had to leave them at home. So I went to take care of it and when I got back Tiny was inside freaking out, and I was calling Samuel but he wasn't coming and I knew something was wrong. I started looking around inside but he wasn't there so I went outside and started calling for him and noticed a piece of paper on my door. It was from animal control, it said that they had been called out because the dogs had gotten out and when they arrived they saw Samuel lying in the middle of the street and that he had been hit by a car. And gave me a phone number to call, I called and they gave me the address where I could see Sam, I rushed down there and wanted to see my dog and they told me it would be 300 dollars to get him out, and the animal control guy who scooped him up told me he had broken bones and internal bleeding so I'm freaking out and I asked them if they got him any medical treatment and the guy said he put some pain pills in some food and left it there for Sam. I wanted to see Sam immediately I told them and the guy brought me back to where Sam was, locked in a cage lying on the ground in pain crying and nobody even comforting him. My eyes teared up and I called out to him telling him it would be ok. Nothing moved on him except his tail started wagging when he heard my voice.. this sent me over the edge, I had to come up with 300 bucks right now! I was so mad and hurt that they left him in there like that, it literally was like someone punched me in my gut. Three hours since he had been hit and stuck in that cage in was able to piece together enough money to bail my injured pup out and get him to an emergency vets office. I'm forever grateful to VEG in San jose for doing everything they could to take care of my pup even tho I had no money and the credit places they worked with wouldn't help with the 7500 estimate they had written up for Sammy's care plan. My heart was broken but I kept reaching out to more and more places but ran into dead end after dead end. Maybe the vets sensed my level of heartbreak and desperation because they didn't stop taking care of Sam even when they knew I had no way to pay for the medical aid. They gave me pain pills, anti inflammatory pills and anxiety pills to take home for him and even ran some X-rays so I knew what it was he still needed, hthe x-rays showed Sammy had bruised lungs and that air was getting into his chest and pushing his heart upward and that his right front leg was broken clear thru the bone. My heart sank and as much as I tried holding it in but tears started rolling down my face. They said that he would need orthopedic surgery soon or he would lose the use of it and need it amputated. Then they asked if I wanted to amputate his arm. I knew he was in pain and amputation could end that pain for him but I had to make the hard decision to not amputate his arm until I exhausted every single resource or means of generating enough money for the needed surgery to save his arm first. Some people say that he would live just as happy of a life with three legs as he would four, but Ive had a German shepherd with bad hips before and I knew that if I didn't fight with everything I had and let him lose him front leg that if he were to get bad hips later on in life only having one front arm that he would suffer just walking to go to the bathroom. It was hard decision but I made the decision I felt was best for him in the long run. I hate that he's in pain Everytime he tries to get up and move around and he keeps trying to and bumping his arm into things or getting it caught on something and crying everytime he does. I'm trying to keep him as relaxed as possible but it's been a challenge since he's used to multiple trips to the park a day and racing with his brother when I throw the ball to see who can get to it first and try to race back to me before the other grabs his tail causing him to do a somersault tuck and roll type deal or getting tackled by the other in the process. He's had such an active lifestyle that laying there all day just doesn't calculate to him... Im in a desperate situation at this point, He needs this surgery to save his arm to ensure him the best possible chance at a happy, healthy life and if I can't raise the money in time then all his suffering will have been for nothing. I'm to far in to turn back now and I need to keep pushing forward in my efforts to save his arm. He deserves nothing but the best and he's worth every blessing he gets. I love these two guys very much and there isn't anything I wouldn't do for them. Please if you can help Sam I would be forever grateful for it. Anything helps even reposting this gofund.me fundraiser for him. These guys are like my babies and my best friends, please help me help them. Thank you
