We are a group of caring friends who have formed the Love 4 Logan fundraising committee. Our goal is to assist this young family during this current crisis and to make this journey they have ahead of them a little easier.
In a perfect world, children and good health go hand in hand but unfortunately we know that our world is not a perfect one. When sickness befalls a child, the burden is that much more challenging. In our community of Paisley, we have such a family, parents Justin Rankin and Tina Teston, grand parents Chad and Janice Rankin and Wanita McCurdy (Chesley), all dealing with this difficult situation. Their son and grandson Logan, is a 20-month old little boy who has been stricken with a very serious medical condition. This very young toddler could belong to any one of us: our child, our grandson, a sibling, a friend or neighbor.
This past March, Logan Rankin suddenly became very ill. His life-threatening condition, Septic Shock, resulted in his immediate transfer to London. Justin and Tina have been by his bedside day and night to help with his care.
Logan has undergone multiple surgeries, including the amputation of several digits and skin grafting as well. The skin grafting will be ongoing as he continues to grow. The extent of Logan’s rehabilitation is still unknown as his recovery is still in progress.
Logan’s contagious smile and strong spirit have shone through, even on the most difficult days. The strength and courage this little boy has shown those around him is far beyond his years.
It is impossible for parents to be at their little one’s bedside supporting him when he needs them the most and to be at their place of employment on a daily basis as well. The significant impact of lost wages during this critical time is felt by everyone who has ever spent days, nights and weeks at the bedside of a very ill loved one.
The family has truly felt all the prayers and well wishes that have been sent and express gratitude beyond words.
