LOU'S RIDE

"LOU'S RIDE"
has special a very special meaning to myself and my family.  My name is Lisa.  As some of you may know, my son, Zac Howell, is a cancer survivor, now in remission for six years.  Over the years, I have known Lou and Pam but over the last 5 months have come to know them even more.  I have been priveledged to call Pam my dear friend and mentor.  Pam and Lou have been and will continue to be a very significant part of my life, "one day at a time".

Lou was recently diagnosed with Stage 3, Esophageal Cancer.  He will begin  "HIS RIDE" this week with both Chemo and Radiation through Smilow for the next 8 weeks.

Any donation will benefit their source of income as they both will not be employed.  Gas, food, etc.... are only some of the funds needed to raise money for Lou and his family.

The Go Fund Me Campaign asked me to describe why this means so much to me.  When Zac was diagnosed with Non Hodginks Lymphoma on New Year's Eve, 2009, it was devastating, overwhelming and frightening.  I know those feelings as a caregiver, have lived and felt them even after Zac went into remission.  I can only imagine what it must feel like for the patient.  The Milford Community reached out and helped our family so much from the teachers, coaches, St. Agnes Church, family, friends and people near and far; some never even having had a chance to have met them.  This means so much to me because this is my way of giving back.  Our family has been priveledged to make so many new friends because of this disease.  This disease doesn't discriminate; many pediatric children within our own community are still fighting this disease as well as those that are in remission.  Adults, young and old are handed this disease everyday.  I recently lost my Aunt Nancy, my Mom's sister, my Godmother and "second Mom" to this disease in November, 2016.

For those of you that don't know Lou, I am going to describe my take on him :).... Lou is a handsome man with a rugged exterior, with that comes an exuberantly husky voice.  Lou loves riding and is often seen wearing his black leather jacket and black boots.  Within that same person, is a man with a heart of gold that would give you his right arm.  Lou is an incredible man, husband, father, grandfather, friend and most of all a genuine, humble human being.  This is a very strong, humble family and they will be in my prayers each and every day.

As we all know, times are financially difficult right now for so many.  Any amount at all, makes a difference.  $5 puts gas in a car and pays for a meal, and if you are not able to donate monetarily, then please add Lou to your prayer list.  The Howell's were so grateful for the many prayers and thoughts that truly meant the world.  Power of prayer is stronger than we can imagine.  God gives to those that can handle and Lou is one of the strongest men I know.  Thank you so much.

Warm regards,

Lisa Howell
