Lori Kay Gross is a dear friend who welcomed BB Sinatra one of our favorite Sealyham Terriers ever, into her life about a year ago. BB Sinatra quickly became a beloved companion, bringing joy and laughter to Lori’s home. Recently, however, BB Sinatra began struggling with serious gastrointestinal issues. He lost weight, picked at his food, and often couldn’t keep it down. Despite dietary changes and many vet visits, his condition didn’t improve. Ultrasound imaging only brought more questions, and his B-12 and protein levels remained low.
After much detective work, BB Sinatra underwent abdominal surgery, which revealed multiple adhesions from his omentum to his colon from a still yet-to-be-determined source. This caused severe inflammation and impaired colon function, requiring a bowel resection. Just three days after the first surgery, the repair began to fail, and BB Sinatra had to be rushed into a second, unexpected surgery to prevent sepsis. More of his colon was removed and repaired, and thankfully, the second surgery was a success. After eight days in the hospital and many sleepless nights, BB Sinatra is finally home, ten days post-op, eating well, gaining weight, and showing his bright spirit again.
Even with insurance, Lori is facing significant out-of-pocket expenses for BB Sinatra’s care. I’m starting this fundraiser to help Lori cover these bills and ensure BB Sinatra continues to get the best follow-up care. Any support you can offer would mean the world to Lori and BB Sinatra. Thank you for helping them through this difficult time.
