Loretta Springer developed Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of three. Over the years this has taken a severe toll on every joint in her body.
She had been living independently and supporting herself until she suffered a series of costly events starting two years ago.
She fell and fractured her hip, then, when recovered from this, fractured her lower leg just below the knee.
She chose to have a total knee replacement in the hopes of regaining the ability to walk with a walker and resume the ability to live independently.
Now, after 30 years of supporting herself teaching early childhood classes she has spent all of her savings, retirement funds and the proceeds from the sale of her condo as she moved from assisted living to a nursing home and now back to assisted living.
She has just recently begun to walk with her walker but this is very limited due to a severely arthritic hip. She and her surgeon have decided to proceed with a hip replacement which is scheduled for June 6, 2017.
After surgery Loretta will need several months in assisted living while getting physical therapy, considerably more than post-op rehabilitation will cover.
With monthly expenses of about $5000 Loretta will need financial help to be able to make the transition to independent living.
Please give whatever you can to help this brave soul continue to heal and regain her independence.
