Please Help the Gomez Family Through Lorenzo's Battle

Please Help Support the Gomez Family During This Very Difficult Time!

We are kindly asking for your support in helping the Gomez family. Any amount, no matter how small, will make a difference in easing their financial burden during this challenging time. Both of Lorenzo’s parents are incredibly hardworking, but they’ve had to take significant time off work to care for their 6-year-old son as he fights this relentless battle with Cancer. This has taken a toll on the entire family, emotionally and financially.

Lorenzo is non-verbal and autistic, and it breaks our hearts to see how he expresses his desire to go home during his hospital stays. Whenever Lorenzo gets to his room, he goes straight to the window and sits next to it—his way of telling us he wants to go home, as seen in one of the images we’ve shared. Knowing we can't take him home until the doctors say it’s safe is incredibly hard for all of us.

While Lorenzo is bravely fighting cancer, we are trying to plan for the future. This GoFundMe is meant to help us cover any unexpected costs, should anything happen with his insurance or medical bills. We also have a dream of taking Lorenzo to Disney World, a place he has never been but one we hope to visit when he’s 100% cancer-free. Unfortunately, we can’t take him now due to his treatments, but it’s a goal that keeps us hopeful during this difficult time.

You can help by sharing this GoFundMe and staying with us on Lorenzo’s journey. Every contribution, whether a donation or a share, helps lift our family up and keeps us focused on helping Lorenzo heal.

Hi, my name is Katrina Gomez. I’m Lorenzo’s older sister.

On September 23, 2023, our world was turned upside down when Lorenzo, just 6 years old, was diagnosed with Wilms Tumor Metastasis in his lungs and kidney. Despite his young age, Lorenzo has shown incredible strength and bravery throughout this journey. He underwent major surgery to remove his kidney and affected lymph nodes, and we initially hoped that after 8 months of chemotherapy and radiation, his battle would be over. For months, he endured frequent treatments and long stays at Riley’s Children Hospital, and by May 2024, we thought we might finally see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Sadly, in June, a biopsy revealed devastating news. On July 12, 2024, Lorenzo was diagnosed with Wilms Diffuse Anaplasia in his lungs, a more aggressive and challenging form of cancer. His new treatment plan requires an additional 10 months of chemotherapy. While we remain hopeful, the road ahead is long and uncertain.

As you can imagine, the medical bills have been piling up. Our parents are doing everything they can to focus on his health, and I wish they didn’t have to worry about the overwhelming medical expenses. Our father, Juan Gomez, has worked for Boaz Construction since 2005. As Michael Boaz said, "Juan is a reliable, credible, and instrumental team member, known for his dedication to quality and excellence. He’s a loyal, hardworking man and a wonderful human being." But with the demands of caring for Lorenzo, it has been difficult for both parents to maintain their regular work schedules.

Any donation you can offer will help ease the financial burden so that our family can focus entirely on Lorenzo’s health and well-being. Whether you contribute financially or share this message, your support means the world to us.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us during this difficult time. Every bit helps us provide the care and love Lorenzo needs to keep fighting. God bless you and Lorenzo!

With deep gratitude,
Katrina Gomez & the Gomez Family
