They lost everything.  Lorenzo Marquez Trespalacios, his wife Cecile Diederichs de Marquez and their five small children, including their 3 month old baby were rescued by boat and kayak in a harrowing effort by wonderful folks during Hurricane Harvey on Sunday, August 27, 2017.

Everything is lost-home, cars, clothes, all posessions large and small, heirlooms and necessities. Everything is needed and it is doubtful that insurance will cover their loss due to flood - not direct hurricane wind damage.

"I'm broken", Lorenzo said. He and Cecile made desperate pleas to be rescued on facebook and finally a good samaritan came with a boat and a family member with a kayak, to save them and their five children. They are grateful to be alive.

Everyone who knows Lorenzo through the U.S. design community and, in fact, throughout the world, knows Lorenzo to have a character of the best qualities - a strong faith,  always a family-first compass, kindness, generosity and always a quiet smile for anyone and everyone. He and Cecile are a strong, loving couple, dedicated to their beautiful five children.

I've known Lorenzo as a professional colleague for over ten years. I have experienced Lorenzo's generosity in numerous ways which always surprised me. All funds will go directly to Lorenzo and Cecile for their direct withdrawal into a rebuilding account. They will use the funds to rebuild their home and their lives.

Lorenzo has helped the interior and kitchen and bath design community over many, many years.  But more than help, Lorenzo has worked and given of his time tirelessly on behalf of the entire design community and continues to support the industry as the 2017 National Chairman of the NKBA.
