Hello, I'm Bettina, and I'm launching this fundraiser for my friends and fellow potters, Loren Kaplan & Darryl Barnes. On the evening of Friday, August 2 the kiln gods were not in our favour :( The kiln panel malfunctioned and was completely destroyed. Fortunately, no other damage occurred, but the panel needs to be replaced. Now approximately $6,500 is required to cover the cost of a new panel, a 3-phase cable, professional installation, and all necessary work to ensure it meets code. We’re reaching out for your support to help cover part of this expense!

I've had the pleasure of working with Loren and Darryl for the past four years at Akin Dupont studios in Toronto’s west end. The kiln fires work for approximately 16 studio members ranging from hobbyists to professional ceramicists who depend on the kiln services for their livelihoods. Loren and Darryl also teach about a dozen students throughout the week which use the kiln to fire their work and Loren fires for a handful of outside artists which also rely on the kiln. Your support will help get kiln back in working order so we can all continue our work!
