Looking for assistance in reducing debt due to income loss

GoFundMe is a place where people in need can go for help. This is why I have come here; to ask for assistance. However there are many people on here who need more assistance than we do and I encourage you to take the time to review other sites who need. I cannot in good conscience take away from there need. With this fundraiser, I am asking for an extra 20 to 50 per donor to help us out. (More would be accepted of course). I do not expect a few people to help me with the amount I need but am asking for assistance from a larger pool of people so no one is adversely affected.

Now on with our story:

My wife has faced medical challenges her entire life, requiring numerous procedures, surgeries, and a lifetime of medication. Since before we married in 2012, she has relied on Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) to help her make ends meet. Together, we’ve worked hard to balance our expenses with my income and her SSDI, and during the pandemic, she was able to take on some contract and temporary jobs to help us get by. Even though these jobs were full-time, they were always a secondary source of income, and we depended on her SSDI to keep things afloat.

In October 2024, everything changed when my wife suffered a major back issue that left her unable to work. Just as we were struggling to keep up with our bills, we received the devastating news that her SSDI was being pulled due to her work history. Suddenly, we are finding ourselves with only one income source, and our expenses are quickly outpacing what we can bring in. We’re now at a crossroads, facing the possibility of bankruptcy or needing to find another way to stabilize our finances and keep our home.

Part of what we could afford and no longer can are a series of loans. By reviewing our loan options I was able to manage our outgoing bills with our revenue income. The SSDI payment was matching the monthly loan amounts (1250 per month loans out of 1320 per month SSDI). I was working on a financial cushion but the lack of work and other medical needs depleted what I had set up.

We’re asking for help to keep a roof over our heads in a city where it takes two incomes to get by (monthly bills) and help us lower our loan totals to manageable levels (45K worth of loans), cover any new medical issues that may arise during this time, and give us the breathing room we need to find more affordable living arrangements. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a real difference for us as we work to regain stability and focus on health and recovery. Thank you for considering a donation and for being part of our community.
