LON PONSFORD LIVER TRANSPLANT FUND

Donation protected
My name is Jeanetta Ponsford  (Nita), I have been married to my husband Edward (Lon) Ponsford  for 33 years.
Lon spent most of his adult life in the military  and serving the public  as a  Police officer,  later promoted to Detective . Lon is a Viet Nam Veteran  and retired from California UC  State Police . Lon graduated from University of California in 1974.

EDWARD PONSFORD (LON) was diognosed with LANNACES LIVER  CIRROSSIS  in 2008  .   This illness is completely disableing.  Lon has lost the ability  to live a normal life and has to have help with just about every function, such as getting up and down, walking and  balance, and   needs in home help with many other things as well.   Lon does not drive and is dependent upon myself and others to take him everywhere he goes.

He is being treated at Mather VA hospital  and was placed on the national liver transplant with Portland VA transplant Center in 2010.
He is also listed on the San Francisco VA as well as UC San Francisco Medical Center.
We have traveled to all of the above hospitals many times and have at this time exausted every avenue physically, mentaly and our finances expired long ago.     We are now trying to find a privite doctor and hospital that will help us with the transplant.
The cost to us could exceed $100,000.       The Va Will pay for the medications and aftercare.   Other than the VA and medicare, we have no other insurance.

On May 12 ,2012 I was diognosed with AngioimmoblasticT Cell Lymphoma in 4th stage.
I was in Sutter Cancer Center for several months with Chemo treatments. blood transfusions, lots of IVs and a stem  cell transplant which was a 38 day isolation in the Cancer transplant Ward.   My daughter was at my side 24 hours a day every day for over a year.  If not for her
making sure that I received the best care  possible, I am sure I would not be here today.

Edward was in assisted care for several months while I was in the hospital.   His brother was able to help him as well with anything he needed.      My daughter and family took care of me in their home, even building a bedroom on their home as a safe room for me during recovery to help re- build my Imnune system for several months after I received my new stem cells.
I am in remission  and hope I will stay there.    My cancer is not cureable and I am not going to allow it to come back.  If it does,  we will deal with it as it comes.
We are both so happy to be alive and to have  family and friends that care and love us.

Any funds received will be used for medical care, travel
and related necessities.

We  are  forever  grateful for any donation Small or Large
Hopefully  we will be able to help someone else in the future.
