My name is Lorie , and I’m asking for help to stay in my home.
After more than 20 years in my house in Colorado Springs, I’m now facing the real threat of losing it. I am recently divorced and now living alone, trying to carry the full weight of the mortgage and household expenses on a modest income.
I work full-time for a local school district as a bus driver, and while I love what I do, my monthly income of just under $4,000 is no longer enough. My mortgage is $3,157.61 per month, and I have already missed both May and June payments. I'm now two months behind, and the lender has warned me that foreclosure could soon follow.
I do receive court-ordered spousal support and food assistance (SNAP), and I’m doing everything I can — including applying for Emergency Mortgage Assistance in Colorado Springs and asking the lender for a repayment plan. But while I wait for help, the missed payments and fees are piling up.
That’s why I’m asking for your help.
I’m trying to raise $10,000 to cover:
- Missed mortgage payments for May and June
- Late fees or legal costs
- A little cushion to stabilize during this crisis
If more is raised, I’ll use it to reduce my mortgage balance and prevent this from happening again. My goal is not just to survive this moment — but to rebuild something stable.
If you can donate, thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you can’t, please share this page — every act of support means the world to me.
With gratitude,
Lorie A
