Lone Strays Get Home: Help Us Build a Forever Refuge for Stray Dogs in Uganda

My name is Ashley, and I'm an animal lover trying to help fundraise for a dog sanctuary in Uganda on behalf of Derrick Ndawula, founder of Lone Strays Get Home.

Here is his story:

Hi, my name is Derrick and I'm the founder of Lone Strays Get Home, a rescue shelter for dogs located in Uganda. Over the past few years, we've dedicated our lives to rescuing, feeding, and caring for stray, abandoned, and injured dogs that have nowhere else to turn.

Today, we are facing the biggest crisis in our journey. Our tiny rented shelter is now packed with over 50 dogs… far more than the space can safely hold. High rent bills swallow most of our resources, and despite everything we pour into caring for these animals, the landlord has given us notice to leave.

We are running out of space, time, and safe ground. Around us, not everyone welcomes stray dogs with open arms. Without urgent help, our rescued dogs could once again find themselves homeless, hungry, and hopeless!

The Goal

Our first urgent step is to raise $5,000 to secure the land deposit and begin building their forever home.

We are working to raise $25,000 to purchase 1 acre of land and build a permanent sanctuary where these dogs can finally be safe, loved, and free from eviction or hostility.
