Lola is a normal, sweet, and sassy 7 year old girl who was excited to go to a sleepover on a Friday night. She is a second grader who loves to sing, play with her dolls, and be silly. She loves blue, sneaking her mother's lipstick, and everything sparkly. She comes from a loving family. All this quickly changed Friday night when she had to come home from her sleepover with a fever.

After monitoring and being unable to bring her fever down, Lola became unresponsive, and her parents decided to take her to the hospital. Lola endured endless tests, CT scans, MRI's, and spinal taps to rule out Meningitis, Encephalitis and a possible autoimmune disorder, all while her loving family was by her side, praying for some answers. Finally a diagnosis was discovered.

Lola was born with Moyamoya, a very rare but very serious condition in which the vessels that supply blood to important areas of the brain become thickened and narrowed. This causes the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the child's brain to gradually slow down, and makes it more likely that a blood clot will form.

Lola had actually unknowingly suffered from several mini-strokes in the past. This past weekend a bigger stroke actually caused some permanent damage to some parts of her brain. They are waiting for the swelling to go down, then Lola will need to have brain surgery to help create a healthy, adequate new supply of blood for the impacted areas of the brain.

Lola is lucky to be supported by 4 loving parents. Michael and Nish have been helping to raise Lola and her brother Noah alongside Ben and Jennifer since Lola was only 2 years old. She is fortunate enough to have this strong team working together as she begins her long road to recovery. Lola's mother is a teacher, and she is taking time off work to be with her daughter through this traumatic time. If you are looking for a way to help support Lola and her family, please think about making a donation to her account. These donations will be used towards Lola's medical needs while she undergoes surgery as well as any therapy that may be needed after the fact.

On top of all of this, on Friday, yes the same day Lola came home from her sleepover, Michael found out that he is in need of a kidney transplant. They are currently looking for a match. As they say, when it rains, it pours.
We ask for continued prayers for Lola and her family as they all try to navigate the times ahead. Please remember to never take life for granted, as you never know how quickly things may change.
