Lokie was my baby, my beloved soul dog for 15 years, and losing him has shattered my world. I’ve had him since he was just 9 weeks old, and I honestly don’t know how to exist without him. Recently, Lokie started struggling to breathe, and while he’d had spells before and always bounced back, this time was different. We rushed him to an ER vet, where he was diagnosed with heart failure, fluid around his heart, and a level 5 heart murmur. The vet explained his prognosis was not good, and even with meds and tests, the damage was severe and irreversible and he was even struggling in the oxygen box. All of this happened within just 5 hours—one moment he was with me, and the next I had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him go.
On top of the grief, the ER visit and euthanasia costs have created a huge financial burden. My husband has been unemployed since May, and we don’t have any working vehicles, which has made everything even harder. The money I had set aside for a car down payment now has to go toward Lokie’s vet bill, as if losing my darling boy wasn’t bad enough. The vet won’t release his remains to me until the bill is paid, and it hurts so much not to be able to bring him home and honor his memory.
I am reaching out for help to cover these unexpected expenses, so I can finally bring Lokie’s remains home and give him the love and respect he deserves. I'm not asking for thousands of dollars, just enough to cover his bill. Any support would mean so much to me during this difficult time. Thank you for helping me honor Lokie’s memory and for easing the financial strain. Your kindness and support are deeply appreciated.
