Help Dan's Liver Transplant
Donation protected
KIND. HELPFUL. ALWAYS PRESENT! These are words that describe Dan Cathcart.
But unfortunately sick is also one of those words.
In 2017, Dan was diagnosed with liver disease. It has been a lot of trips to doctors and in and out of hospitals. Now he is at the end stages of liver disease which means his liver can no longer sustain his life.
Dan needs a life saving liver transplant. He has been placed on the transplant list at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis and the doctors a have given an estimated wait time of 1 to 3 months. Now we wait and pray not just for strength for Dan but for the other family as we realize that in order for Dan to be given a 2nd chance at a new journey, someone else’s journey has to end. That is very upsetting to Dan so we have been praying for that family. Please join us by praying for them, also.
Along with the prayers, we need your help with the medication and medical expenses. Dan's wife, Samantha, will have to take time off from her job to take care of Dan and the medications alone are in the thousands of dollars a month. He will need to remain on some medications for several months and others for a lifetime to ensure his recovery.
Dan has been involved in working with the children in our community for many years. One of his favorites was Spinning Wheels Skate Center where you might know him as BIG DAN. He is also involved with the youth at First United Methodist Church of Festus/Crystal City where he has been the youth leader for 3 years.
Dan has Always been Present for the kids that depend on him, including kids from rehab where he worked for 11 years, the classroom of Festus Middle School for 18 years, and being a Foster/Adoptive parent for 20 years.
To say that Dan has a life long commitment and calling for our community's youth, is an understatement . It is his passion.
Dan has never asked for anything but rather he has always given to others.
But now he needs your help.
We want to thank all of our friends and family for your prayers and support,
Please continue to check back for updates on Dan’s condition and upcoming procedures.
Thank you and God Bless,
The Cathcarts
"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you" (Luke 6:38).
