Triathlon for Olivia
Donation protected
We are three friends who are doing a triathlon fundraiser on Sunday April 15th 2018, to support our friend Olivia.
Last September Olivia was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. This is a form of Cancer where the blood cell production in Olivia’s bone marrow went bad and left no room for healthy blood cells. She has to have a type of medicine called Chemotherapy. Chemo kills the Cancer cells but makes the body feel tired and sick. This means Olivia doesn’t feel very well a lot of the time. It also means that she has to go into isolation because the chemo wipes out her immune system and makes her unable to fight infections. Olivia’s treatment is not quick or easy. She has been on Piam Brown Ward (Children’s Oncology and Haematology Specialist Centre) at Southampton General Hospital for five months and still has more to come. In hospital she has grown very fond of the amazing Doctors and Nurses and has fallen in love with the therapy dogs who come to visit to brighten up the patient’s day. They help her when she is down.
We are doing a sponsored triathlon to raise money for Olivia to show our support while she deals with the challenges of her treatment. We'd like her to enjoy some fun - maybe weekends away or just trips out and about. Olivia is a fantastic friend and she truly deserves this. She is energetic and amazing at gymnastics and a fantastic ballet dancer. Once at a running event it was freezing cold and someone we knew had injured themselves while running. Olivia gave up her race to stick by them and encourage them – this is just one of the amazing things that Olivia does. No words can describe how kind and caring she is. Please help us help her and thank you for all the support.
Please sponsor us in our challenge as, between us, we will swim 750m, cycle 20K and run 5K in Chichester on Sunday April 15th 2018.
Thank you!
