As many of you know, the past few years of my life have been steeped in major changes. The transitions have been difficult and challenging, but I’ve managed to keep up a go-to attitude and have generally met these complications head-on. One aspect of these challenges that has been continually elusive of my efforts is finances. My only steady income is from Social Security disability, due to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It is only $906.00/mo.
While I have severely tightened my budget, as well as picking up odd jobs when I’m capable, I am deep in debt. After Little Leaf’s first bout with urinary blockage last year, this debt became nearly unmanageable, and I buckled down harder. With some help from my friends, and a big push forward, it looked as though I was going to start bringing my financial state into an upswing.
And then Leaf relapsed with a urinary blockage. Previous to the new flare up I had been treating him with low cost yet seemingly effective dietary changes and supplements. These measures kept him well until Memorial day, which sent us to an emergency clinic. The emergency and initial critical care costs totaled $670.00. As it turns out, he is permanently blocked (without the catheter installed), and needs perineal urethrostomy, a radical surgical procedure. This will cost a minimum of $1,800.00. I only have $1,300.00 credit available on my credit card. Assuming there are no complications, the total cost will be near $3,000.00, including follow up veterinary visits.
Please, if you could spare anything, no matter how small, it will help. I thank you for your time and consideration.
