Elias has had a challenging childhood that's he's handled extremely well. He came to California from the mountains of Guatemala when he was just 7 years old. His family our indigenous Mam people. Prior to starting school here, he did not speak Spanish or English nor did his mother. His father was deported a few months before we met and has had no contact with Elias since his deportation. He shares a one bedroom tiny apartment with his mother and brother in East Oakland. He's a DACA/Dreamer kid who's done well for himself.
Elias graduated today from Oakland's Skyline High School's Computer Academy Path. He'll be taking summer courses at Alameda College specializing in computer security. He's also working 3-4 nights a week at a local bowling alley.
We are raising funds to support his education. Thankfully, the first year of community college is free in California. However, he'll still have book costs, lab fees, and transportation expenses. Plus, he'll save any excess funds for his second year.
Please help Elias... your support means a lot to me and him... thank you!
