22 months ago Callum was diagnosed with advanced oesophageal cancer at just 34 years young.
Callum and Emma met at 18 years old and share 2 children together, Mayson 16 & Skye aka Little Betty 12.
Emma and Callum have been together for 18 years and got married 6 years ago.
Emma has had her business 'Little Betty's Boutique' for 10 years. She started out in her living room with a small rail of dresses and has worked hard to build her business up over the last 10 years. She now has the most beautiful little Boutique in Marple - Little Betty's Boutique and has won the North West wedding supplier of the year for the last 5 years running.
Everything was going well for them untill December 2021 when Callum received his devastating diagnosis.
Although Callum has fought hard and defeated all the odds he has now been moved to St Anne's hospice for end of life care. Prior to this Callum has spent the last 3 months in the Christie hospital so time with his family has been limited.
Emma has continued to work throughout Callums illness (what an inspirational woman and role model she is) as she knows her business will be what supports her family moving forward and could not risk losing everything she has worked so hard for. She now needs to lessen her hours and take time to be with her family. Callum has also been so strong and worked through most of his illness and his company have been amazing.
Callum and Emma have 2 children to provide for and bills to pay and without Emma's business this would prove very difficult.
Being self employed with a small business to keep afloat makes things much more difficult and at an already devastating time it saddens me to think Emma has continued to work and miss out on valuable time with her amazing warrior of a husband because of financial difficulties.
I do not know Emma and her family personally but I have been a customer of Little Betty's Boutique numerous times over the last 10 years for my own 2 children and earlier this year for my flower girls dresses.
I am a similar age to Emma. I have 2 children and a husband and cannot even begin to imagine how painful and heartbreaking this must be for them.
Emma and Callums current situation has really touched me and I feel truly heartbroken for their beautiful family.
I am hoping by setting up this page we can elevate a little pressure and raise some funds to support Emma, her children and her business over the next few weeks/months. Emma needs her business to thrive now more than ever and still be around for years to come to support her children. Raising these funds could help cover overheads of the shop and hire extra staff to help over the months ahead so she can take a step back and spend this time to be with her family.
Thank you for taking the time to read. If you can, please consider donating and above anything else be kind, you never truly know the heartbreaking situations and difficult times people are having.
Edit : I can't believe how kind and generous people have been in just 3 days of the fundraiser going live. I thought i was being optimistic setting the target at 2k but it appears i was being no where near realistic! Thank you to each and everyone of you who have donated. Emma worked her last day in work yesterday all thanks to the kindness complete strangers have given her ❤️
As I mentioned above I do not know Emma or Callum personally but I have been a Little Betty's customer for many years and I have followed their story since Callums diagnosis.
Emma has asked if we could meet for a coffee so I figured this would be a perfect opportunity to transfer the funds to her. Emma can share proof of this on her business page.
In the meantime please continue to share and donate so we can support the family for as long as possible ❤️
Thank you once again for the support you have all shown Emma and Callum ❤️ my faith in humanity has well and truly been restored!
