Central Coast Neuro Rehab ( CCNR) provide an excellent rehabilitation service to people with all kinds of neurological conditions, on the Central Coast of NSW, to obtain maximum improvements in movement and functional abilities to enable people to participate as fully as possible in life.
We make rehab fun as well as effective in a caring, positive, friendly environment.

CCNR are raising funds for a specialised treadmill, the LiteGait.
This life-changing equipment will help patients stand and walk safely and independently again or for the first time.

WHAT IS A LITEGAIT:
Partial weight bearing therapy device
Allows patient to practice walking while supported
Assists posture, balance & weight bearing
Train under fall-free conditions
Use overground or over treadmill

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT:
  • MAKES TASK-SPECIFIC TRAINING POSSIBLE
  • WHAT IS TASK-SPECIFIC TRAINING?
  • EVIDENCE FOR TASK-SPECIFIC TRAINING – Level 1a strong evidence from 20 studies incl 13 high-quality RCTs, increases walking speed, endurance, functional mobility, balance and lower limb strength
  • COCHRANE REVIEW ON PARTIAL WEIGHTBEARING DEVICES – Merholz 2025 “Electromechanical-assisted gait training, when combined with conventional physiotherapy, can improve walking ability in people with stroke”
  • Significant improvements increases likelihood of achieving independent walking, 6 minute walk test, mean walking speed “Benefits are particularly notable for people who are non-ambulatory or in early stages of recovery”
  • STROKE GUIDELINES OZ AND UK SUPPORT PARTIAL WEIGHTBEARING DEVICES.

WHO WILL BENEFIT
  • People who cannot activate their leg muscles sufficiently, or whose leg muscles are too weak, to bear their weight
  • People who can sit to stand at parallel bars or in a standing frame, but cannot bear weight on one leg in order to step.
  • People with poor balance, who might not be able to control the postural
adjustments necessary when shifting their weight side to side or forward, to walk.
  • People who are not confident, or are unsafe, when attempting walking.
