                                             I have court on May 23rd, thats in less than 10 days. Please help.

A few months ago, there was a weather disaster in Pittsburgh. without electricity & unable to feed myself, I dumpster-dived. I was charged with trespassing, then drug possession. I am facing possible jail time. I have less than 10 days to raise $ for my legal defense. Please help.

During a weather disaster in my city, I and 100,000  people went without electricity in sub freezing temperatures for almost a week. I was unlucky enough that I was alone, my partner and primary care taker having just taken a long awaited trip out of the country. I’m disabled and usually barely scrape by, so when the power outage caused my food to spoil, I had very few options to stay fed. A friend who was in a similar situation took me to a dumpster behind a grocery store to see what we could find. Unfortunately, a cop saw and  harassed us. He  chased me from the dumpster to the car so that when he demanded to see my license (which was in the car) he could say it smelled like weed and search me. He did, and charged me with possession of cannabis and paraphernalia. (I didn’t even get to keep the groceries) I had to get a lawyer which will cost fifteen hundred dollars, which is what this Gofundme is for. 

This whole episode, especially the bad weather, caused an outbreak of my fibromyalgia and C-PTSD, preventing me from even writing this until it abated, two months later. As it stands now, I have about five and a half weeks to raise my lawyer fee before my court date. If you could, please donate. And if you can’t,  please pass this along to someone who can <3
