Lil Nelson is 13 years old and is diagnosed non-verbal classical Autism.  His loves in life are Water and Music! Anything shiny and flashy usually draws his attention and he loves to eat (unless it's green! he will eat tri color rotini spaghetti and leave the green noodles on the plate) Lately he has been having some issues with eating like he normally does, and is in alot of pain.  After appointments with both dentists and a oral surgeon it is concluded that he needs oral surgery. (We had an appointment set up for surgery and the day before we found out Medicaid would not cover the surgeon)

He is in need of oral surgery to repair/replace several teeth that are damaged from chewing and the inability to have proper dental care due to the sensory processing issues he faces daily.

 Chewing is a common behavior in special needs children, especially those with autism.  Children with sensory issues often feel compelled to chew on paper, clothes, or other objects. 
Sensory processing disorder is a condition often linked to autism, ADHD, and other special needs.  The term refers to the difficulty intaking and understanding sensory information from outside stimuli.  Some children might feel over or under stimulated.  Children with autism might chew because they like the sensation they get from the behavior. 

While Lil Nelson does have medicaid they will not cover the cost of implants and/or additional procedures needed. Unfortunately dentures, and/or partials are not a option due to his severity on the spectrum. We are hoping thru this GoFundMe account we can gather enough funds to cover implants and any other required dental procedures to help improve his quality of life.
