Gabriel's Greatest Adventure

Donation protected

On November 11, 2013, when Gabriel French was only 10 years old, the unthinkable happened.

He was rushed to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh where he was diagnosed with a rare and inoperable brain tumor. After over 2 weeks in the Pediatric ICU and a month in the hospital, Gabriel was finally released to go home. But he would soon be back so the doctors could work for a cure.

A week before Christmas 2013, Gabriel started his first round of chemo. It lasted a full year. He soldiered through the doses, month after month, never complaining, and always smiling.

Gabriel made it to the last treatment, and finally had a little room to breathe after twelve months of doctors, hospital, tests, and needles.

A little more than two years from his last treatment, Gabriel's MRIs showed that the tumor had grown. He now faced another round of chemo, with weekly treatments for another year.

Fast forward to 2018: After having a surgery to implant a shunt that might help reduce the swelling on his brain, and multiple emergency room visits for various complications, an MRI showed the tumors were growing rapidly. Gabriel was put on a third emergency round of chemotherapy that, unfortunately, did not have the effect we all hoped for.

Gabriel's treatment escalated as he started radiation therapy in May of 2018. After six weeks of intense radiation to his brain we were disappointed to learn that the tumors we still there.

Unfortunately, Gabriel has moved well beyond any treatment options, and we're left with no more options, or treatments to try.

Today, we're focused on making the life he has left his greatest adventure.

Those who know Gabriel can tell you he is a kind, generous, loving soul, who will always put others first. He never lets his struggle or fear show, and always tries to make others laugh.

His parents, Jeff and Emily, are doing the best they can to show Gabriel the best of our country. They have sold everything they have to provide Gabriel his greatest adventure, but they need our help.

Please say a prayer for Gabriel, that his pain will be light and his spirits high. Post a note of encouragement to him and his family for those nights when they feel alone. Share his story with others, on every social media channel, that you believe can help.

Most importantly, please donate to help their family with the burdening medical and travel expenses that come with such a challenge. Imagine, for a moment, what it must be like to be the parents of a 16-year old that has only a short time more to live his life.

This is Gabriel French, age 16, and he needs your help. Thank you and God bless.
