Support Unhoused Single Mother
My name is Rachel Perlman, and just a few months ago, my life was turned upside down. After giving birth to my daughter in November, I became homeless in March. My little girl is now in foster care with my father, and I am staying in a homeless shelter while I fight to recover and get back on my feet.
What makes things harder is my health. In March, both of my kneecaps were dislocated during a police encounter, and I also suffer from severe arthritis. For weeks, I couldn’t even take a single step. I’ve been healing slowly, but I lost everything my home, my belongings, and my ability to work.
For over 20 years, I worked in the restaurant business. I always took care of myself. But now, I am struggling with the most basic needs. I barely have clothes that fit, I haven’t had a haircut in over a year, and even things like toothpaste or conditioner are hard to afford. It’s embarrassing and painful to have to ask friends for help with these small necessities.
I am almost medically cleared and will soon be able to look for work again. But without proper clothes, self-care, or stability, it will be very hard to walk into an interview and rebuild my life. My dream is simple: to find a job, secure stable housing, and reunite with my daughter.
I am asking for your help to cover essentials clothing, toiletries, groceries, and savings toward future rent. Every donation, no matter the size, will help me take the next step toward independence and healing.
If you can’t donate, please share my story so others can. Together, you can help me move forward and give my daughter the stable, loving home she deserves.
Thank you for reading and for caring.
With gratitude,
Rachel
