New Lift for Alexis Delgado

Donation protected
Alexis Delgado is a young 13-year-old girl who lives in Brownsville Texas. Alexis has Cerebral Palsy and is wheelchair-bound. The disease has affected her body so much that she cannot get in/out of bed or a vehicle, by herself.  Cerebral Palsy has left Alexis with uncontrollable body movements and an inability to speak. Alexis relies on her mother, Miriam, a single parent. Miriam is Alexis’ caregiver, chauffer, and companion, taking her to all her medical appointments.  Numerous visits to doctors and elsewhere require trips in Brownsville and to Harlingen and McAllen.

Alexis has outgrown her wheelchair and is getting a replacement wheelchair. Once she gets her replacement (bigger, heavier) wheelchair, her van will need an electrical lift so Alexis and her wheelchair will be able to get into and out of the van without too much difficulty. Currently, her mother has to pick up, carry, and place, Alexis into and out of the van.  Our goal is to raise at least $5,000 for an electric wheelchair lift for her van, a 2002 Chevy Venture Van with 334,501 miles.

While the goal is to raise $5,000, we are hopeful, and we are praying, that the community and organizations will band together to help Alexis that enough funds be raised to purchase a replacement (used) bigger van to accommodate the wheelchair lift and wheelchair.
