Ballet Summer Intensives

Donation protected
My daughter Lexy is a 16-year-old aspiring dancer with big goals and a strong work ethic. She plans to attend college, majoring in dance with a dance scholarship, in the hope of moving into the professional dance world after college.

Her passion is classical ballet, but she is also well trained in Modern, Jazz, Tap, and Hip Hop, which makes her a very versatile dancer.

Lexy has been training at New Tampa Dance Theatre in Tampa, Florida for approximately 8 years, and is a member of Dance Theatre Tampa, a non-profit dance company.

She’s performed in the DTT Summer Concert Series, as well as the DTT rendition of the Nutcracker (performed at University of South Florida) for the last four years.  She danced in multiple roles, including Arabian Lead, Angel Lead, Snowflake, Flower, Party Girl, Polichinelle, and others.

Within the last 4 years Lexy became very focused and passionate about her dancing.

She has overcome some extremely difficult life experiences that nearly decimated her, but has made a strong comeback, catching up academically and with her dance.

She feels that knowing she was behind the curve caused her to work even harder to catch up in her schooling, as well as dance, and she has zoomed forward as a result.

Dance is what she eats, sleeps, and breathes.

Through difficult times, dance has been a gift from God for Lexy, helping her rise above the darkness, providing her with hope and purpose, training her in self-discipline, work ethic, character, and leadership.

It’s her deepest desire that someday in the future, she’ll have the honor of becoming a professional dancer and role model, sharing her faith and inspiring other girls who have experienced similar difficulties and life challenges to be overcomers, using adversity as a catalyst for growth.

Lexy is currently an honor-roll level sophomore attending Solid Rock Community School in Tarpon Springs, FL.

Lexy recently completed her very first Summer Intensive auditions for Florida State University and American Ballet Theatre (ABT) and to her delight, was accepted to both!

ABT assigned her to their Texas location for the intensive (University of Texas in Austin).

Nationwide, 4,000+ dancers auditioned, with only 1,500, or 37% accepted

Lexy was one of just 12% nationwide who was assigned either directly to their NY location (the most rigorous), or their satellite intensive based in TX.

Her desire is to squeeze every drop of learning she can from this experience, in the hopes of earning a place in the top tier, ABT - New York Intensive the following summer.

ABT offers world class training and is a very prestigious, respected organization based in New York, and touring nationally, where Misty Copeland is currently a principal dancer.  ABT has boasted the likes of greats such as Mikhail Baryshnikov, among others.

Lexy is also honored to be selected to participate in the Florida State University Summer Intensive, as this is one of the top dance colleges she’s set her sights on to participate as a dance major after graduation from high school.

Her goal is to earn a dance scholarship to college.

This is very competitive, as approximately 150 – 200 incoming freshman audition for the dance program, but only about 30 are accepted.

This will be the first time Lexy will be able to receive this kind of instruction outside of her own studio .

Since she has only this summer and next to prepare for the competitive world of college level dance and beyond, it’s very important for Lexy to attend both these intensives.

Any help you give in the form of donations or sponsorship is greatly appreciated!

Sharing on social media is also helpful in making this campaign visible in the hopes that others will be moved to donate too.

As her mother, I’ve been a single parent for many years and the sole provider for Lexy’s education, living, and health expenses, without the benefit of any child support, so these important Summer Intensives are not something I have the ability to provide for her on my own.

Your donations will make the difference for Lexy to be able to move forward to the next level on her path.

Thank you for your kind consideration and support!

I thought you might like to see a couple of simple videos of warm up at the barre on flat (no pointe shoes) taken on my phone.

These were recorded at the end of a very long day of school and classes in multiple dance forms.

Between dance classes and rehearsals she's at the studio an average of  30 hours a week.

She is also a very good student, maintaining a high grade point average as well.

There's also another short phone video taken last summer of a Contemporary style combination they worked on briefly.

Lexy is 2nd from the right.

This an unpolished clip, but you can see the expression she puts in her dance.

This was her first introduction to the Contemporary style of dance.

We are exceedingly grateful for your support.

Any amount is helpful.

We would also appreciate if you would share this GoFundMe page with others in your email list and social media and encourage them to donate as well.

Blessings to you!
