An article in the Maryland Independent reads, “Man crashes truck into Waldorf home, by Jessi Stickel, Aug 23, 2017. A man drove a truck into the rec room/extra bedroom and through the siding of a home on Ulster Court, Monday after losing control of the vehicle.”
Family and Friends, this accident happened on Monday, August 21, 2017 and the home belonged to a dear friend, Mark Lewis, and his family; his wife, Melanie and two children, Mark II and Morgan.
It was by God's grace and mercy that no one was home at the time of the accident. Their home was designated condemned by the Charles County Fire and Rescue due to the severe structural damage caused by the accident. The Lewis family is currently displaced and living out of a hotel in Waldorf, MD. They have very limited clothing and the daily necessities to get by. As we all may know, dealing with an accident, especially one of this magnitude, is a lengthy process. Mark, Melanie and their 2 kids need our help in getting back to their normal daily routine, especially with school starting in a few days.
Those living in the Charles and Prince Georges county area may know Mark and Melanie very well. They were deeply involved with the youth programs in their community. The UM Gators was an organization in which they helped create and maintain for over 8 years. Coach Mark and Coach Melanie were and remain as pillars in their community. They volunteered endless hours to teach our youth the game of football and cheerleading, but most importantly, how to be respectable young men and women. Once you are a part of a youth organization, you become a family; that bond is never broken and as coaches, you always inquire about the youth you have encountered. Family and friends, let's pull together and help the Lewis family get back to their home.
I'm asking that we raise $10,000.00 to help the Lewis family secure clothing, food, supplies, and any daily necessities that would make their lives easier until they can secure a new home.
