Help Shelly Recover From Her Motorcycle Accident
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jason. I am putting this Gofundme together on behalf of my mothers, Shelly and Valerie Pryor. Not everyone knows what happened or how great these women are, so allow me to share some details.
Valerie and Shelly were involved in an accident. They were riding their first Harley that they had just gotten last week. Valerie was driving, and Shelly was the passenger. They were pulling off of the road because it had started raining. They always use both turn signals and hand signals when they turn. When they started slowing down, they got rear-ended by a car going too fast in the rain. On impact, both Shelly and Valerie were thrown from their bike. Once emergency vehicles got there, they drove both women to Mercy Hospital. Valerie passed away at the hospital from her injuries, and Shelly was flown to Cox Hospital South in Springfield, MO. Shelly has multiple severe injuries. Her pelvis has a clean broken section, a fractured area, and a completely shattered area. One of her hips is both broken and dislocated. She just underwent a 12 hour surgery where they were able to put in plates, screws, and reassemble everything.
For those of you who don't know, Valerie was Shelly's soulmate. They were two crazy lesbians that were in love. She felt that after 45 years, she finally got it right. 4 months ago, they found out that they were going to be grandparents. They were ecstatic. Valerie never had any children and always thought of my brother and I as hers. She even asked if she could legally adopt me just in case something happened to Shelly. She wanted to be in our lives and leave us her legacy. Of course, I said yes. How could I not? She truly was someone special. She and my mother were just about to start building their dream home. They had planned out a baby shower for my wife and I on July 1st. Now everything is broken. Shattered. Plans have become distant dreams, and dreams have become impossible.
I know that we, as a community, are going through a rough time financially, but anything helps. My mom will no longer be able to pay her bills. She won't even be able to walk for the next 3 months minimum. She's going to need wheelchair accessibility everywhere she goes.
Thank you in advance
