Please Help Local Farmer "Lenny" Austin and His Family

 This is Leonard "Lenny" Austin, his wife Rebecca and their two sons Andrew and Adam.  This account is being set up to help the Austin family get through one of the most difficult times in their lives.


On Wednesday, January 13th, Lenny was attempting to repair a piece of his farm equipment when something went horribly wrong.  Lenny became trapped and pulled into the piece of heavy machinery.  Thanks to the help of family, friends and emergency responders, Lenny was rushed to Albany Medical Center, where he is in the Critical Care Unit.


Lenny has a long road ahead of him.  He arrived at Albany Med with bleeding on the brain, numerous broken ribs, severe damage to his left hand and wrist, a broken collarbone, a broken pelvis, collapsed lungs and a disturbance in one of the vertebrae of his spine.  As of today, Lenny has already undergone two required surgeries.  One to repair the damage to his hand and wrist and another to repair the extensive damage to his ribs.


The Austin family needs our help and support.  Lenny was a major contributor to the massive amount of work it takes to run a farm and support his family.  As we pray for a quick and complete recovery, the extent of Lenny's injuries will be a very slow and expensive process.


For those of you who do not know the Austin family....I must say you are missing out.  I had the pleasure of growing up and going to school with the Austin boys, Andy and Adam.  I would have to say that they are two of the most genuine, caring and good hearted men I have met in my life, which is a direct reflection of their mother and father.  When I asked if I could start a fundraiser it was accepted with hesitation.  Please understand this is a proud, hard working and very close family, but they do understand the struggles they are facing and will face in the near future. 


I am asking for your help and support, for the many of you who know Lenny, Rebecca, Andy and Adam they will fight for their family, they will struggle with their responsibilities and they will do it proudly.  I ask that during this difficult time, we come together and lessen the financial burden on this family so they can focus on Lenny and his recovery.
