Lend a Paw: Life-Saving Surgery for Layla
Donation protected
Hey everyone,
This is Abagail . While I reside in Colorado, my guardian angel, Megan, and her Labrador best friend, Layla, in Oklahoma need your help!
I've never done anything like this before, but what I have to share is really important to me. Megan, my guardian angel, played a pivotal role in saving my life. Today, we stand together, asking for your support for Megan and her guardian angel, Layla.
I posted a public video on my aunt's (Angela Kana-Veydovec) Facebook page that expresses the special connection I have to Megan - the link to the post is below.
Please take a moment, view the video, read our story, and let's make a difference together.
Meet Megan - a compassionate soul with a heart that beats for every living being. From the tiniest insect to the grandest creatures, Megan's life is marked not by footprints but by paw prints in the sand. Her journey, however, has been one filled with heartbreak, loss, and an unyielding love for those she holds dear.
For over 10 years, Megan dedicated her life to social work including child welfare and disabled and aged population welfare, leaving her paw print on the lives of dozens of children. Beyond her devotion to helping children, she embraces the role of a single mother to her beautiful daughter, Hope. Alongside their cherished pet family, they confront the daily challenges of tending to Megan's ailing mother, who has battled severe conditions for over 13 months.
A Tragic Past
In the last few years, Megan and her ohana have faced the gut-wrenching pain of saying goodbye to cherished family members. First, Lilly, the black Labrador guardian of the family, crossed the rainbow bridge, leaving a void that echoed with grief. Later, sweet Barney, a rescued Shih Tzu, bid a peaceful farewell. The pain of their losses was immeasurable, yet life had more heartache in store.

Enter Eddie, Lilly's best friend and canine soulmate, a white Labrador whose playful spirit filled the house. His departure in January of 2023 left Megan and her family shattered. The echoes of grief lingered, becoming a haunting melody of loss.
A Difficult Present
Amidst the shadows of grief, Megan faced a financial storm when her cat required surgery, adding to the burden her family carried. Yet, Megan's resilience remained unbroken. She became the primary caretaker for her ailing mother, navigating through the uncertainties of severe conditions that threaten her mother's life. As a single mother herself, Megan juggles the weight of responsibilities, struggling to make ends meet.
A Pawsible Future
Fast forward to now - Layla, Megan's beloved Labrador, has fallen ill with septic peritonitis. This unforeseen challenge demands more than just emotional strength; it requires a financial and emotional investment. Layla's condition, a puzzle even for the best veterinary minds, necessitates transfusions, surgery, hospital stays, and months of medications and recovery. The cause of her illness, like a shadow in the dark, remains elusive.

THIS BRINGS US TO YOU - the HEROES who can turn the page of Megan's story.

Megan's Heartbeat
Layla is more than a pet; she's Megan's strength during the day as she cares for her mother. Layla is the fluff that wipes her tears when the days feel unending. She's warmth at night when Megan is alone in handling the difficulties set before her. Layla is the smiles that keep Megan going when all feels down. She's Megan's best friend, a four-legged anchor in a sea of challenges whose love is unconditional.
In a world often shadowed by tragedy, let's be the light that guides Layla and Megan to a brighter, healthier future. Every paw print tells a story, and with your help, we can ensure Layla's story is one of triumph and resilience.
Thank you for being a part of Layla's journey to healing.
With gratitude,
Abagail and Angela Kana-Veydovec
