Hello there, my name is Brandon, I had a massive panic two nights ago because my two dogs, leisure(2 years old) and rue(4 years old), got out at about 11pm and ran off down our apartments parking lot and into a flood way, tunnel thing, that runs between our complex and the one next over. it’s a big concrete tunnel that goes under the city to allow flood water to flow away. They just disappeared and myself and my partner had no idea where they would have gone, we split up to search, he got in the car and i on my bike and we went around everywhere looking for them. We searched and searched and fearing the worse we came back home and took to the internet to put out the word to keep eyes out. About an hour and a half later, we heard something outside of our front door so we went to look, and they’re both laying down outside our door. Rue was perfectly fine just out of breath, but leisure he was cutup all over his body, he was limping unable to use his rear left leg. And just acting absolutely beside himself.
So we immediately took him to the emergency vet. They immediately took notice of a broken hip, contusions around his back side and along the side of his face. They took X-rays and found he was internally bleeding. His kidneys are more than double the rate they should be. The vet said he’s for sure had to have been hit by a vehicle and it’s a miracle he had the energy to make it back let alone physically make it home. I can’t believe someone would hit an animal and just keep driving. It’s so bewildering to me to think of such a thing. I never would have thought I’d need to be asking people for help, things are just nearly impossible right now financially.
They have had him in the vet er for 2 days now, and I just don’t have the financial resources to be able to pay for the surgery he’s needing for his hip.. They won’t know which option treatment will be done until they get into surgery. He will be needing physical therapy as well.
He’s only two years old, he’s the most friendly dog you’d ever meet. All he does it want to play and go to the park. It’s sad having to see him cry and cry because he can’t do what he loves to do.
